Acoustic Uproar is a Boston-based concert series that promotes emerging composers and performers in the programming of extremely contemporary music. Founded by Boston University composers Lesley Hinger and Heather Stebbins, Acoustic Uproar provides a much-needed venue for young composers making the transition between the student and professional realms. Acoustic Uproar also seeks to maintain a light but engaging atmosphere at all concerts in order to facilitate absorbing, analytical, and fun conversation about the works and the role of contemporary music in our society.
During the inaugural season, Acoustic Uproar programmed the works of seven Boston-based composers, whose ages spanned 20-30+ and hailed from three different continents. Performers ranged from undergraduates at Boston University to acclaimed professionals.
